Jeanne Cooper is the stuff of acting legends. A California girl through and through, she was born in the state and spent a long career in Tinseltown, earning her stellar acting reputation on the big screen, in primetime television series, starring in TV movies, and owning daytime television. Her first acting credit was at the age of 25, playing Myra in cinema’s The Redhead from Wyoming (1953), with Maureen O’Hara as the titled redhead. Parts in both movies and television followed, her CV reading like a list of the most popular TV from the ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s. Long-running series appearances included various roles in Wagon Train between 1961-1964, Perry Mason between 1958-1966, and The Magical World of Disney between 1967-1968; Grace Douglas on Bracken’s World from 1969-1970; and, of course, as the indomitable Katherine Chancellor in over 1400 episodes of The Young and the Restless, starting in 1976 and ending in 2013. The soap siren became news when she incorporated her own facelift into the storyline, with Y&R actually filming the operation. And somewhere in the middle of all this, at the age of 42, Jeanne entered the Mr. Skin annals with her part as a prostitute who tries to seduce Henry Fonda’s character in the western film There Was a Crooked Man (1970). She peels back the sheets to endow us with a fleeting glance at her terrific twosome and rosy nipples. She doesn’t succeed in her attempt to seduce Henry, but we were more than happy to watch her efforts. Sadly, Jeanne passed away in 2013, working right up until the last minute.
